![]() Also a good thread for someone who needs some enginebay inspiration  Used this thread to see what filters the BT boys use. I have been thinking a lot about this what to do, searched a hell of a lot of big turbo builds on vwvortex and its about 50/50. Some people pay over 100 pounds for their choice of intake which I find ludicrous. I have tried all forms of air intake minus the Wakbox and I find that the velocity stack with mushroom is the closest to running with no filter than anything else.Īs a bonus it's also very cheap. His intake method of choice? HKS mushroom with velocity stack so there is evidently something to be said about this intake choice! I'd definitely advocate the use of a HKS mushroom in conjuction with velocity stack, a guy who I know builds VAG race engines / day-in and day-out who runs a 600+hp Audi. You can find a cheaper velocity stack here although I think it's OD may be smaller: I am utilising a HKS mushroom filter and large velocity stack, I sprayed all of the metal and plastic parts black and replaced the filtering element with a black trimmed-to-size air filtering element to retain a stealth-like look. Gonzalo and Max vouch for the velocity stack + mushroom set up so I decided to go with them as they certainly know their stuff. The q of how you would guide this air to an intake/turbulence and velocity stacks, dunno. Thats got to be able to flow a lot of air easily right? Personally id like an airbox from a 5L car turned on its side if it would fit. Why theres no mention of k+N as options,no idea. I dont know which is best, no doubt gonz will be on the case(unless he doesnt want to give away any info about his surprise) !ģ70 hp 3 in intake w hks 200/80 mm mushroomĤ20 hp 3 in intake w hks 200/100 mm mushroomĦ10 hp(stroked) 4 in intake w hks 200/100 mm shroom I just see on the measurements inner diameter of filter and bellmouth diameter of stack, will it fit inside the filter and then be gripped or is there some adapter plate. The non oil filter and v stack that you mention, will the stack fit? The thing with a standard airbox is the end of the pipe is pushed into it a good bit so flat filter is quite large ,whereas the addon types the filter doesnt even start till a few ins away from the intake mouth. ![]() What about whatever setup the v6 guys with an added turbo use? ![]() The air filter blurb and stats just confuse me.Oil is bad, no oil is good, just dont put on too much etc. Thatd be big turbo rather than biturbo then? (j/k).Īfter so much reading I dont know, and Id have to go thru your build to guess.bigger diameter intake 3.5 in, TIP 3in?, and non standard rs4 MaF unit?
